Supplements

Occasionally your dog may experience some sort of problem like itchy skin, dull coat, ear infection, or unexplained diarrhea. The following are holistic supplements that I and some of my breeder friends have used with success.

Diarrhea:

Fastrack Canine Gel
Sometime out of the clear blue sky your 4 legged friend will develop a bad case of diarrhea. We have found that Fastrack Canine Gel will not only put a stop to diarrhea but will also get the fellow's system (intestinal) back in order. This is also a great product to give after your dog has been on antibiotics for a period of time. Also for diarrhea see the Olewo Carrots below.  You can read about Fastrack and order it here:  http://naturmix.com/pages/products/fastrack_probiotic.html

Ear Infections &Watery Eyes:

Apple Cider Vinegar!!!
Yes! The Organic kind that you can purchase at the health food store (has the word "Mother" on the bottle. Bragg is the name we buy). This is great for ear infections! Also great for dog's eyes that tear. **Also read your dog food label. Beet pulp may causes some dog's eyes to tear/water. **Your tap water may contribute also.  Just add 1 tablespoon of ACV to your dog's food if he is over 50 pounds, and 1/2 tablespoon to the food if he is under 50 pounds. Apple Cider Vinegar is super cheap and has TONS of uses! You can read more below or do your own search "benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar for pets" or "Apple Cider Vinegar benefits for dogs"  The benefits for people and animals are endless!

Buy a 5 pound bag and it will last you 2 years or more for one adult dog!! Great for when you are switching foods! They will never go bad (they are freeze dried). Wonderful product!

Salmon Oil
Add 3 pumps of oil to an adults dog's food and they will go nuts over the great flavor! The oil is 100% pressed Salmon oil and adds essential oils to the dog's coat.. Watch a dull coat improve! Also great for an arthritic dog or one with itchy skin/allergy.  http://naturmix.com/pages/products/kronch_salmon_oil.html

Hokamix
http://naturmix.com/pages/products/hokamix.html Hokamix has been around for many years. It is an herbal product with many uses. Arthritis, canine hip dysplasia, itchy skin/allergies, general health.... "Hokamix is a special blend of herbs that help the body rid itself of toxins and help strengthen the body so it can heal itself.... when the body is clear of toxins, it has the ability to balance itself and return to good health."

EMT Gel and EMT Spray
EMT Gel and Spray have many uses. They are mostly used at my house for hot spots. http://naturmix.com/pages/products/EMTGel.html The gel is a sticky glue type that will adhere to open wounds. It contains a special collagen that actually heals (in days!) many types of wounds - even gun shot wounds! Good to just have on hand for emergencies. You can purchase these at the link above or at any Tractor Supply Center.

Neem Oil
http://naturmix.com/pages/products/neem.html We have also ordered from: www.neemresource.com  Neem is a plant and the oil has been around for centuries. You must read the label carefully. The oil you buy needs to be diluted. We mix it in with our dog shampoos. The oil is great for moisturizing, protecting, and healing the skin as well as other uses.

Solid Gold Canned Tripe
http://www.solidgoldhealth.com/products/showcat.php?cat=1  This tripe has been processed and ready to be consumed right from the can (to your dog). Mix it with their food for luxurious coat and sheen. You may try your local Petco too. They carry many Solid Gold products.

Sardines in Tomato Sauce
Just buy these at your local grocery store. These are pumped full of Omega 3 oils which helps all sorts of skin problems such as itching or hair loss. Just be sure not to give them more than once a week and wash off all the tomato sauce. Dogs don't need the salt!
