*Failure to research the breed *Too many animals
These are a few reasons that pure-bred dogs are taken to shelters every year. Owning a dog is a 10-15 year commitment. In an effort to reduce this from happening to our puppies please answer the following questions with as much detail as you wish. You can copy/paste and then insert into a Word document to answer the questions, and then copy/paste back into an email addressed to:
1. Have you owned a Labrador before?
2. What do you know about the breed?
3. Are you willing to take the puppy to obedience class?
4. Do you own a home with a backyard?
5. Do you plan on spaying/neutering/**breeding??
**all pups sold to families considering breeding will be sold as Co-Own**
6. Will the puppy live inside/outside/both?
7. What would you like to do with the dog, hunt tests, agility, obedience, conformation, pet therapy, hunt partner, ......., or companion.
8. Which upcoming litter are you interested in (sire and dam)?
9. Male or Female?
10. Do you have children? What are their ages?
11. Do you understand that we sell our
pups with a
Limited
Registration?
12. What is your city and state?
13. Did you discover us on an internet classified site?? If so would you kindly tell me which one. Or did you discover us by doing a search on google or yahoo?
***I am very pleased that you are interested in my Labradors! Please note that many people contact me with the desire to purchase a "white Lab". Lab colors are only Black, Yellow, and Chocolate. There is no white. My litters will be light. Some pups will in fact be close to white. Most however, will have some shading either on their ears or backbone, and some will be blond. If you are interested in color only you should contact another breeder. Although we too like the lighter shade of yellow, we breed for quality not color***
14. Do you have the resources not only to purchase this quality pup but also to pay for routine vet visits, puppy essentials (crate, toys, chewies, bowls, brush,...) emergencies, and quality dog food??
15. Were you referred to me?? If so by whom?
16. Are you aware that puppies have sharp teeth??? They will bite! They will chew! The more love, attention, and EXERCISE you give them, the less likely they are to chomp on you, your furniture, or other things you adore.
17. I am a firm believer in a crate. If you plan to buy a puppy from me or someone else this is the best place for puppy when it cannot be supervised. Be advised though.. I believe a puppy should NOT be in a crate for more than 5 hours at a time (unless its bedtime). If the grownups in your home BOTH have a full time job where the puppy will be confined to the crate all day long please do not contact me. This situation will not work. The puppy will have too much pent up energy. It will most likely also exhibit wild behavior because of being kept in a small space for too many hours. Puppies do well in a home where at least 1 family member stays home or at least has a very flexible schedule. How much time do you (and the other people in your home) have for a dog?
18. What else can you tell me about yourself and family that would make me feel comfortable placing a puppy with you?
