About Us

Who are we? We are Tina (me), Toby, Tesa, and as of February 6, 2006, Tate Gustavus.  We are a family operated kennel located six miles north of Waco, Texas  specializing in yellow, blonde to white, Labrador Retriever puppies.  I taught 5th grade Science for five years and resigned when Tesa was born.  I now spend my days with babies and dogs. Recently I was excited to learn that I had been  accepted by the AKC to administer the prestigious CGC test to dog owners of any breed wishing to prove their canine has exceptional manners and obedience. Toby teaches a Toyota based automotive program at Texas State Technical College as well as recruits for the Toyota Program. He also has a part time taxidermy business.  Interested in seeing some of his work? Click here: Taxidermy

In 1993 we bought our first Lab, Buck. We did not know much about the breed then. All we knew is that we had to have one. We decided to start raising Labradors in 2002 when by mistake we left Buck and our first female Betsy together.  Sixty-three days later she had her first litter of 10 black puppies.

After our first accidental and irresponsible litter, we dedicated all of our spare time to researching ways to improve the Labrador breed.  After learning about breed standards, selective coupling, inherited diseases, temperament, and retrieving instinct, we bought several sound foundation bitches with very nice show and working pedigrees. Today we continue to learn and devote ourselves to developing a better breeding program.

Raising puppies has been an exciting and rewarding experience and I take it very seriously. This is NOT a hobby. My hobbies are photography, reading, and gardening. I invest many hours of research into each litter I produce to ensure happy, healthy, handsome companions, with endless potential. We have created some amazing puppies here at our home and in the process we have made life long friends (furry and human)!
